Mulled Wine

Every year I make a large batch of mulled wine for my loved ones. Its the gift that keeps on giving until you drink it all. Enjoy!

Mulled Wine

Ingredients - Makes 16 glasses

  • 1 box of red blend (Big House is my favorite)

  • 1 bottle of 750 ml of dark rum

  • 6 cinnamon sticks

  • 10 dehydrated orange or grapefruit slices

  • 1 bag of cranberries

  • 2 tbsp. Star Anise seeds

  • 2 cups of brown sugar

You can use MANY different vessels to make mulled wine. I had preferred to use a crockpot but this year I use my Instapot and was so happy I did I will make the switch.


  1. Combine all your ingredients into your Instapot. ** If you do not have a dehydrator, you can typically buy dehydrated oranges at the market. If they do not have them or its to much of a hassle substitute with fresh oranges, thinly sliced.

  2. Set your Instapot to the "Slow Cook" feature for 2.5 hours with the venting open. Now just let it be. I have seen some recipes that say to pressure cook it, however, you tend burn off some of the alcohol and nobody wants that!

  3. Once done, it should automatically go to the "Keep Warm" feature. Open it up and do some sample tastes. If it tastes a bit bitter and another cup of brown sugar. Stir until full dissolved (1-ish minute).

  4. I suggest before pouring yourself some, run your drinking glass under hot water. Bringing it up to relative temperature to the Mulled Wine will prevent a potentially cold glass from cracking.

  5. Sit back and enjoy🍷
